Which Annapurna Base Camp Route Should You Choose?

All four routes end at the same 4,130m base camp beneath the Annapurna massif, so the real decision comes down to time and terrain. If you’re short on days, the 7-day Ghandruk or Tolka/Jhinu routes get you there and back with minimal fuss, Tolka/Jhinu is the quieter, easier of the two. If you want the extra reward of a Poon Hill sunrise over the Himalaya, the 9-day Ulleri/Ghorepani route is worth the added days. And if you’ve got the time and stamina for something bigger, linking in via the Annapurna Circuit turns this into a 17-day high-altitude expedition, crossing Thorong La before you ever reach Chomrong.

Whichever route you pick, it’s worth planning around cost, permits, and what to pack before you go Outdoor Himalayan’s Annapurna Base Camp Trek guide covers all of that in one place.
