Trekking in the Everest Region requires two main permits, which are enforced to protect the fragile environment and support local communities. The Sagarmatha National Park Entry Permit is a conservation fee that helps preserve the UNESCO World Heritage site you’ll be trekking through.
The Khumbu Pasang Lhamu Rural Municipality Permit is a local development fee that directly benefits the Sherpa communities and is mandatory for all trekkers entering the Khumbu area. Please note that the TIMS card is no longer required in the Everest region.

SAARC- NPR 1000
You cannot obtain this permit in Kathmandu. You must get it in the Khumbu region itself, either at Tenzing-Hillary Airport in Lukla (immediately after you arrive) or at checkpoint in Monjo (just before entering Sagarmatha National Park).

Foreigners- NPR 3000
SAARC- NPR 1500
You can get this permit at the Nepal Tourism Board (NTB) office in Kathmandu. Or at the park entry checkpoint in Monjo, but we recommend getting it in Kathmandu to save time on the trail.
