Affectionately known as Raj among clients and friends, he is a highly respected figure in Nepal’s tourism industry, renowned for his integrity, expertise, and unwavering commitment to excellence.
A true self-made entrepreneur, Rajendra’s story is a testament to determination, perseverance, and passion. He is not only a successful tourism professional but also a devoted family man, an active social contributor, and a strong advocate of Public–Private Partnership (PPP) as a catalyst for the sustainable growth of Nepal’s tourism sector. His leadership reflects a rare combination of professionalism, responsibility, and genuine care for people.
Rajendra’s journey in tourism began humbly as a porter on the rugged trails of the Nepal Himalayas. Through years of hard work and dedication, he advanced to become a professional trekking guide, leading countless journeys across Nepal’s most celebrated mountain regions. Having traversed remote valleys, high mountain passes, and legendary trekking routes, he possesses an intimate knowledge of the Himalayas that can only be gained through firsthand experience.
Expanding his entrepreneurial vision beyond adventure tourism, Rajendra successfully entered the hospitality sector. He is the founder of Hotel Friends Home, established in 2013, and Friends Apartment, a family-operated accommodation business managed alongside his wife. Both properties have earned an excellent reputation for their warm hospitality, personalized service, and commitment to guest satisfaction.
In recognition of his significant contributions to Nepalese tourism, Rajendra was appointed as an Executive Member of the Nepal Tourism Board in 2015. During his three-year tenure, he worked extensively to promote sustainable tourism development through effective PPP initiatives and played an active role in the nationwide Ghumphir 2073 Campaign, representing Nepal both domestically and internationally.
As an experienced traveler, Rajendra has visited numerous countries across Europe, the Middle East, the Americas, and the Asia-Pacific region. His participation in international travel trade fairs and tourism events has enabled him to build strong global partnerships and gain valuable insights into international travel trends and evolving guest expectations.
Within Nepal, he has explored virtually every major trekking region, including Everest, Annapurna, Langtang, Manaslu, Kanchenjunga, Dolpo, and Mustang, along with many of the country’s most remarkable cultural and natural destinations such as Rara Lake, Bardia National Park, Lumbini, Khaptad, and Pathivara.
Drawing on decades of hands-on experience, Rajendra specializes in designing carefully tailored trekking adventures and travel experiences that match each client’s interests, fitness level, timeframe, and budget. His deep local knowledge, attention to detail, and commitment to personalized service have earned him the trust and appreciation of travelers from around the world.
