Accommodation:

Teahouses and lodges along the Langtang trek are basic but comfortable. Bathrooms are usually outside the room. Extra charges apply for Wi-Fi, device charging, hot bucket water. Phone networks work well in lower regions.

Meals:

Full-course healthy meals are served three times daily. Breakfast and dinner are at the teahouse where you stay, while lunch is eaten at stopovers along the trail. Expect meals like dal bhat, noodles, momo, Tibetan bread, etc.

Drinking Water:

Water is easily available throughout the trek. Options include mineral water (Rs. 150-25- per bottle), boiled water, or tap water at teahouses. Carry a reusable bottle to reduce plastic waste. Using purification drops or tablets is also a smart choice.

Public buses and sharing jeeps are the main means of transportation during the Langtang Valley Trek, as there are no flights to this region. The journey from Kathmandu to Syabrubesi and back takes about 7-8 hours each way through scenic hills and countryside.

The ideal seasons for the Langtang Valley Exploration trek are Spring (Mar-May) and Autumn (Sep-Nov) as the weather and temperature are stable. They offer incredible vistas. The winter and rainy seasons are riskier to trek due to the unstable weather and temperature, slippery trails, and limited availability of accommodation and services. Still, it is possible to trek with proper planning and preparation.

Langtang Valley Exploration trek requires compulsory two permits i.e. Langtang National Park (LNP) and the Trekkers Information Management System (TIMS).

Previous experience helps, but our support team is with you every step of the way to make it easier and safer for you.

Fitness:

Good physical and mental fitness is essential. With proper preparation and acclimatization, this trek is achievable for most. Familiarity with mountain terrain is a plus.

Physical Exercises: Cardio, leg strengthening, core work, and regular hiking practice.

Mental Exercises: Meditation, breathing techniques, staying positive, and setting small daily goals might help.

The maximum elevation during the Langtang Valley Exploration trek is 5,033 m (Tsergo Ri). Altitude sickness is common above 2500 m. As the elevation gains, there is a high chance of getting altitude sickness. Thus, acclimatization rest is essential to prevent it. Take an acclimatization rest as suggested in the itinerary during the trek.

Headache, nausea, dizziness, uneasiness, appetite, and sleep loss, and on extreme some can experience unconsciousness and hallucination.

Day 01 Drive to Syabrubesi (1,460 m)

Your adventure begins with an early morning drive from Kathmandu. The journey follows the Trishuli River upstream, passing through scenic hills, terraced farms, and traditional villages. You’ll watch the landscape gradually transform from bustling city streets to quiet countryside as you climb higher. The road winds through multiple climate zones, and on clear days, you might spot your first Himalayan peaks in the distance. Upon reaching Syabrubesi, the gateway town to Langtang, you’ll settle into your lodge and prepare for the trek ahead.

Day 02 Trek to Lama Hotel (2,470 m)

Elevation: Lama Hotel (2,470 m) 6 hour

After breakfast, you’ll register at the Langtang National Park entry checkpoint and begin your trek. The trail follows the roaring Langtang River, crossing several suspension bridges along the way. You’ll walk through dense forests of oak, rhododendron, and bamboo, with the sound of the river as your constant companion. The path gradually ascends through shaded woodlands, and you might spot monkeys and colorful birds. After about 6 hours of steady walking, you’ll reach Lama Hotel—a small settlement of lodges nestled in the forest, where you’ll rest for the night.

Day 03 Trek to Langtang Village (3,430 m)

Elevation: Langtang Village (3,430 m) 7–8 hour

Today’s trek takes you deeper into the valley. The trail continues following the river, but the forest begins to open up, revealing glimpses of snow-capped peaks ahead. You’ll pass waterfalls cascading down steep cliffs and cross more suspension bridges. As you gain altitude, the vegetation changes to smaller shrubs and pine forests. You’ll encounter your first traditional Tamang settlements, with stone houses, prayer flags, and mani walls carved with Buddhist inscriptions. Finally, Langtang Village appears—a historic settlement that was rebuilt after the 2015 earthquake, now standing proud again with its warm hospitality and stunning mountain backdrop.

Day 04 Trek to Kyanjin Gompa (3,850 m)

Elevation: Kyanjin Gompa (3,850 m) 5 hours

This is a shorter but incredibly scenic day of about 5 hours walking. The trail opens up into wide yak pastures, with mountains rising dramatically on all sides. You’ll pass small herder settlements and see yaks grazing peacefully. The path is gentler today, allowing you to soak in the surroundings. As you approach Kyanjin Gompa, the views of Langtang Lirung (7,227m) become absolutely breathtaking. Kyanjin Gompa is a beautiful Himalayan village with a ancient Buddhist monastery, a famous yak cheese factory, and numerous lodges. You’ll have time to explore the monastery and taste fresh yak cheese in the afternoon.

Day 05 Hike to Tsergo Ri (4,984 m) & Return to Langtang Village

Elevation: Tsergo Ri (4,984 m) 6 hours

Wake up early for the most rewarding day of your trek. After breakfast, begin the steep but non-technical climb to Tsergo Ri summit. The trail climbs steadily above Kyanjin Gompa, offering increasingly spectacular views with every step. At the top (4,984m), you’ll be rewarded with a 360-degree panorama of the entire Langtang range—including Langtang Lirung, Dorje Lakpa, and countless other snow-covered peaks. After soaking in the views and taking photos, you’ll descend back to Kyanjin Gompa for lunch. Then, you’ll begin your return journey, trekking downhill to Langtang Village.

Day 06 Trek to Bamboo (2,370 m)

Elevation: Bamboo (2,370 m) 6-7 hours

Today is a descent day, following the same beautiful trail back down the valley. You’ll retrace your steps through forests and alongside the river, watching the vegetation become thicker and greener as you lose altitude. The walk takes about 6–7 hours, with plenty of opportunities to appreciate the landscape from a different perspective. Bamboo is a small settlement nestled in dense forest, offering basic but comfortable lodges for your final night on the trail.

Day 07 Trek to Syabrubesi & Drive to Kathmandu (1,400 m)

Elevation: Kathmandu (1,400 m) 3-hour walk, 6–7 hour drive

A final 3-hour morning walk brings you back to Syabrubesi, completing your trekking circuit. After lunch, you’ll board your bus or sharing jeep for the 6–7 hour drive back to Kathmandu. The journey retraces the scenic route along the Trishuli River, allowing you to reflect on your week in the mountains as the hills roll by. You’ll arrive in Kathmandu by evening, carrying memories of Langtang’s majestic peaks and warm-hearted villages.
