It is believed that the legendary Buddhist monk Milarepa had visited along the route passing through Tsum Valley and meditated in the caves on the way in ancient times. It still remains a virgin region for the visitors to explore, though it was officially opened only towards the end of 2007 by Trekking Agencies’ Association Nepal (TAAN).
Like other adventure treks of the high mountain region, this one involves intense experience of alpine ecology and environment. The trek also features equally intense, intimate experience of the culture and traditions of the people living here. The region bears deep imprint of Buddhism and Tibetan Budhhism is followed in this region. People here do not sacrifice animals; numerous monasteries scattered around the valley give it a certain religious aura; there are chortens, and mani walls in Dzong and Phurpe are as long as 250 meters. People pass their lives in perfect communion with the surrounding environment in the lap of High Himalayas that surround the valley. You will see Buddha Himal to the west of the valley, Ganesh Himal to the south and Sringi Himal to the north of the valley.

You may have toured to many destinations in the world, but you are still missing a lot if you have not been to Tibet, the ‘Roof of the World.’ Here is your chance of a lifetime - a well-planned overland tour to world’s highest plateau, which is famous for its extraordinary landscapes, ancient monasteries and the unique culture of the Tibetan people. On your way back, you will fly across the majestic Himalayas, sighting Mt. Everest from a close distance.
