Itinerary

On the first day, you fly from Kathmandu to Bhadrapur and transfer by vehicle to Gangtok, the capital of Sikkim. Drop into your hotel and refresh yourself.

Get prepared for an astonishing sunrise over the Kanchenjunga and Siniolchu range from Tashi Viewpoint, about half an hour’s drive from your hotel. Then we return to the hotel, have breakfast and visit some happening places in the town, including the center where traditional arts and handicrafts are manufactured and sold. In the afternoon, we visit the notable monasteries around the town.

It takes about 5 hours to reach Yuksom from Gangtok. The first check into your hotel, refresh yourself and visit some beautiful monasteries in this old capital of Sikkim.

The first day of the trek takes us mostly through the alpine forest consisting of oak, spruce, rhododendron, and other trees. Occasionally we have enticing glances of Kabru and Kanchenjunga mountains.

Today is more strenuous than the earlier day, with considerable altitude gain. The route passes through alpine meadows, encountering a small village named Tsoka en-route. We stop at Phedang for an overnight stay.

We walk only about 3 hours today, mostly through rhododendron and fir forests. From Dzongri, spectacular views of Koktang, Rathong, Kabru, Kanchenjunga and many other mountains greet us, making us forget all our strain and stress. The camp in Dzongri, the large alpine meadow, also offers a great experience of life.

Another treat of superb sunrise awaits you from Dzongri, the sunrise that paints the entire mountain range over Onglakhang Valley in fabulous colors. Then take breakfast and make a short hike to Gingay Dara. Dara commands outstanding scenery of Rathong valley, Rathong glacier, and the row of peaks that stand around Kanchenjunga. You will spend your night at the camp in Dzongri.

Now you start making the return trek, and our stopover for the day is Tshoka, a small village inhabited by the Bhotia people.

We arrive at Yuksom from Tshoka today.

We drive to Darjeeling from Yuksom today, making a brief stop at Khechopalri lake to contemplate its serene beauty. The crystal clear water of the lake and its tranquil surrounds are really appealing, really refreshing. The fluttering Buddhist prayer flags around lend it a certain religious aura.

Darjeeling sightseeing will start with a treat of outstanding sunrise view quite early in the morning from Tiger Hill, a fitting start for a day in the city famously regarded as the queen of hills. In the afternoon, you will not miss the well-trimmed tea gardens, the giver of the green beauty of Darjeeling hills and the giver of the distinct taste. You can also visit the zoological garden, mountaineering institute, and the self-help center for Tibetan refugees, where they produce wonderful handiwork.

Today you leave India and arrive at Bhadrapur airport in Jhapa. From there you will transfer to Kathmandu.
