Makalu - Barun Valley Trek - 22 Days

This is an adventurous and equally demanding trek that routes through some very remote villages and the marvelous Makalu Valley, named after the fifth highest peak, Mt. Makalu (8481 m) and located in the neighbourhood of the Everest region of Nepal. Since Arun river originates from this valley, it is widely known as Arun Valley too.

For trekkers and mountaineers, this area offers a unique experience as they can go as high as Makalu Base Camp (5000 m). For naturalists, it is a perfect place to study the ecosystem of the Himalayas. The population of this region is comprised of various castes and ethnic groups like Sherpa, Gurung, Tamang, Magar, Newar, Brahmins, Chhetris, etc. Their livelihood is mainly based on cattle herds, farming and seasonal trades.
