trip Overview

Nepal Mountaineering Association has classified Lobuche as a climbing peak because it needs a climbing permit, mountaineering skills, and all the climbing gear as distinguished from the trekking peaks which generally need none.

Lobuche along with the majestic scenery of numerous other peaks of the Khumbu region starts to appear in your sight as soon as you reach Pheriche. Climbers follow the route to Everest base camp as far as Gorakshep and even to Kalapatthar. They treat themselves to the superb view of Everest and other peaks from there. Alternatively, they can also follow the Gokyo valley and go over the Chola Pass. From there, they can reach the base camp of Lobuche, which is below its South-West face.

This base camp also offers unparalleled views of Ama Dablam, Cholatse, Thamserku, Kangtewa, and Tawache Peaks. It is possible to kiss its summit and be back at the base camp. It will take four days from the base camp. Although both summits of Lobuche fall on the same ridge, several small summits separates them. It has considerable ups and downs in terms of altitude. After accessing the base camp, climbers set another camp at a higher altitude. They climb steep icy slopes and proceed to the summit from the second camp.

Numerous peaks in Nepal are attempted by a sizable number of climbers every year. Although most of these notices go unnoticed publicly because Nepal is home to eight of the world’s fourteen eight-thousand-meter-tall mountains. In terms of testing your passion for mountain climbing, your skills, and your adventure; these peaks are almost the same deal as that of the 8 thousand.

Itinerary

Our representative will greet you at the airport, and transfer you to your hotel. If time permits, you can go on some sightseeing tours inside Kathmandu valley because it is like the living museum of Nepal with its magnificent artistic and cultural monuments going back to hundreds of years in the history. The most prominent among them have been included in the UNESCO heritage list.

We brief you about the expedition, prepare all the necessary documentation including the climbing permit, and introduce you with your team.

The flight from Kathmandu to Lukla takes about half an hour, but this is an exciting mountain flight giving a bird’s eye view of the fabulous Himalayan region of Nepal. Then carry yourself on your foot for about five hours, finally to reach and stay amidst the Sherpas known for world-famous hospitality in Phakding.

At the foot of Everest region has grown this small town Namche sitting in the midst of some of the great scenes of the earth. You will do a lot of ups and downs as you reach Namche from Phakding, crossing and recrossing the Dudh Koshi River.

To adjust your body with high elevation, it is necessary to spend a day in Namche. If you keep yourself active during the day by visiting neighboring Sherpa villages (Khumjung and Thame), not only will you treat yourself to some great views of the earth but also get a chance to see unadulterated Sherpa culture.

Named after a famous monastery by that name, Tengboche is also known as Thyanboche. Watch out for the Mani Rimdu festival in the monastery when you reach there, because the festival includes monks dancing in masks and Tibetan opera—something which has so attracted tourists that the village is brimful during the festival time. Magnificent views of Ama Dablam and Mt Everest as well as other mountain sceneries also catch your eyes.

Pheriche is a pristine Sherpa village in the Khumbu region, and this village houses the Himalayan Rescue Association which runs a hospital here. As you reach closer to the high mountains, you will get more and more of their awesome grandeur.

A small settlement developed primarily because of the demands of the trekkers and climbers, Lobuche takes you ever closer to your destination.

Kalapathar literally means black rock. This is a small mountain that can be ascended in about three hours. This has become the most popular destination for all the trekkers and mountaineers who reach the Everest region because the sights of Mt Everest and other mountains from this vantage point are close and beautiful beyond the point of imagination.

In about five hours, you will reach the Base Camp from Gorakshep, surrounded by the lofty Himalayan sceneries.

As you prepare to climb the camp, it is necessary to spend a couple of days here for acclimatization.

You can proceed directly to the top of the summit and return to the Base Camp on the same day if everything favors you. But if you want to make the ascent less strenuous, establish a high camp and spend a day there for acclimatization.

The Everest region of Nepal is home to over 200 peaks, three of them going over 8000m in altitude. From the top, savor the superb sceneries of Everest, Lhotse, Nuptse, Ama Dablam, Tawache, Cholatse, Pumori, Changri and many more peaks. Then come back to the Base Camp.

In about 5 hours you now start the returning trek, going downward to Dingboche over the Duglha Pass. Views of Cholatse, Tawache, Ama Dablam, Pokalde, Thamserku, Kantega simply hold your eyes and your imagination.

You will lose a lot of elevation today as well, but not the sceneries.

Tenboche – Namche
Retrace your steps back to Namche. This time you will see this town in an entirely new light, as if you were a Rip Van Winkle just waking up and landing upon an ultra- modern city.

The last day of this trip brings you back to Lukla, from where you shall board a plane.

A scenic flight for a little over half an hour brings you to Kathmandu. The glimpses of the Himalayas from your plane possibly make you feel nostalgic about your expedition.

We will provide you a final farewell, expecting you to revisit Nepal.
