trip Overview
Mt Lhotse (8516m) is the most immediate 8000-meter-plus neighbor of Mount Everest, separated by a pass (South Col). Lhotse’s southern face is perhaps the largest in the world. It is a towering wall of glittering ice and snow. It rises for more than 3 kilometers with a width of 2.25 kilometers. From most of the places in Khumbu, this stupendous wall often outshines the majesty of Mount Everest itself. It seems to be shyly poking its crown from behind the extended massif. If you have enough time at your disposal, you can combine all the attractive destinations of Everest region treks.
For Lhotse Expedition, you should take minor detours either during the approach or the return. As a reward, you will accumulate the experiences of the world’s most famous trekking trails and notable mountaineering success. No other sceneries on the earth will surpass the mountain panorama from different vantage points. Similarly, experience the warm hospitality of the friendly Sherpas in the region. Explore their ways of life, their religion, and monasteries that will leave lasting, unforgettable memories for your entire lifetime.
It is also possible to combine the Lhotse Expedition with Everest Expedition. The South Col separating them reaches 8000 meters. Mount Lhotse rises only 610 meters above it. In the past, a few enthusiastic, hardy mountaineers have managed to kiss the summits of Everest and Lhotse within 24 hours. From the time of its first ascent in 1956 A.D., more than one & half dozen expeditions have successfully ascended the peak.
