  Kanchenjunga Trek - 25 Days  

 


 
 
Kanchenjunga region is situated in the north-eastern part of Nepal, near the Nepal-India border, on the other side of which lies Sikkim. This region is quite remote and relatively very less frequented by international trekkers. Yet, it is not in any sense, inferior to other trekking regions. In fact, it is home to hundreds of species of wildlife, thousands of plant species and five spectacular Himalayan peaks, namely, Wedge Peak, Pyramid Peak, Janu Himal, White Wave, the Twins and Mt. Kanchenjunga itself.   Trip Summary:

  Itinerary in Detail  
 
  Day 1: Based on your flight information, we will receive you at Tribhuvan International Airport and transfer you to your hotel in Kathmandu where you can get refreshed and rest. You can explore the Thamel area on foot in the evening or even visit Kathmandu Durbar Square, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. We will be happy to provide a guide for you.
 
Day 2:

Today we will take care of all the documentation required for your trek. Meanwhile, you can enjoy a guided sightseeing tour of Kathmandu City.
 
Day 3:

We will pick you up from you hotel early in the morning and drive you to the airport. We then take the domestic flight to Biratnagar, the second largest city of Kathmandu. Since same day connecting flight to Taplejung is unavailable from Biratnagar, we will stay overnight there and catch the early morning flight the next day.
 
Day 4:

Today we wake up early and drive to Biratnagar Airport and fly to Taplejung. After descending at Suketar Airport and required preparations, we begin our trek. We will make our first stopover at Phurumba 1950 m.
 
Day 5:

Phurumba to Chirwa 1190 m.
 
Day 6:

Chirwa to Sakyathum 1648 m.
 
Day 7:

Sakyathum to Amjilasha 2490m
 
Day 8:

Amjilasha to Gyabla 2730 m.
 
Day 9:

Gyabla to Ghunsa 3430 m.
 
Day 10:

Rest day at Ghunsa.
 
Day 11:

Ghunsa to Lonak 4700 m.
 
Day 12:

Lonak to Pangpema to North Base Camp 5100 m.
 
Day 13:

Return to Ghunsa 3430 m.
 
Day 14:

Trek to Sele-le Cross and camp at Sele-le.
 
Day 15:

Sele-le to Tcheram 3870 m.
 
Day 16:

Tcheram to Ramche 4620 m.
 
Day 17:

Ramche to Andaphedi 3000 m.
 
Day 18:

Andaphedi to Amjikhola 2340 m.
 
Day 19:

Amjikhola to Amphudin 1690 m.
 
Day 20:

Amphudin 1690 m to Phumphe 1850 m.
 
Day 21:

Phumphe to Karebhanjaga 250 m.
 
Day 22:

Karebhanjaga to Lalikharka 2220 m.
 
Day 23:

Lalikharka to Taplejung.
 
Day 24:

Fly to Biratnagar and then back to Kathmandu.
 
Day 25:

Relaxation day in Kathmandu. If you are returning today, we will help you to get to the airport on time.
  Cost includes:  
 
  • Domestic flights (Kathmandu-Biratnagar-Taplejung-Biratnagar-Kathmandu).
  • Accommodation: 3 nights in a tourist class hotel with breakfast in Kathmandu. Basic accommodation with shared bathroom at local teahouses where available and in tented camps where there are no other options during the trek.
  • Food: Three meals per day (breakfast, lunch and dinner, prepared by our cook) and safe drinking water during the trek.
  • All surface transportation (airport pick up, transfers to/from hotel, etc).
  • We will be happy to provide you with a sleeping bag, down jacket raincoat as well trekking poles and getters.
  • An experienced English speaking guide.
  • Required porters.
  • Wage, accommodation, food, travel expenses and insurance for the guide and porter(s).
  • Kanchenjunga National Park Entrance Fee entrance fee.
  • Trekkers information management system [TIMS].
  • First aid kit.
  • Government taxes and all applicable service charges. No hidden charges.
  • Correspondence with your Embassy.
  • A method for water purification, e.g. iodine or chlorine solution.

Cost does not include:

  • All kinds of drinks (alcoholic drinks, mineral water, chocolate, tea, coffee, etc.).
  • Personal expenses.
  • Tips and donations.
  • Travel insurance.

Other disclosures:

  • We will also inform your embassy in Kathmandu that you are doing trekking under our care.
  • In cases of emergency, we will arrange for a helicopter rescue, medical treatment and after-care at one of the specialised treatment facilities available. This will be paid by your own travel insurance company. (Please ensure that you are adequately covered for this eventuality).
  • We will contact your family or friend and inform them of the situation.
