  Ghorepani - Poonhill Trek

  Ghorepani Poon Hill

Of the numerous trekking options available in the Annapurna Region, Ghorepani – Poonhill Trek is undoubtedly the best if you are really concerned about the duration, cost, difficulty level and overall experience. Spectacular mountain scenery, charming and welcoming local people and the pristine environment are the best features of this weeklong trip which you can complete easily at your own pace.

This short and rewarding trek which is basically a loop around Ghandruk and Ghorepani can be approached in two ways, starting either from Phedi or Nayapul. If you start from Phedi, you will trek to Landruk, cross the Modi River, reach Kyumi and from there to Ghandruk. If starting from Nayapul, your trail will go through Syauli Bazar and Kilu and then ascend towards Ghandruk.

It is worth spending a day in the village of Ghandruk which is mainly inhabited by Gurungs and has fabulous views of Annapurna South peak. From there you will be following a forested path to Tadapani then head west to Ghorepani.

Poonhill is the most important stopover in this trek as you will be able to see a magnificent panorama of the Dhaulagiri and Annapurna peaks. It is also a very sought after view point to catch breathtaking views of sunrise. In clear mornings, you can see the very first rays of the early sun strike the mountains which then begin to glow like gold.
