trip Overview

Everest Base Camp Trek is unquestionably every trekker’s bucket list destination. Everest Base Camp is at an elevation of 5,364m in Nepal’s Khumbu region. This base camp trek is the best combination for adventure enthusiasts and nature lovers. The journey offers breathtaking views of snow-capped peaks, glaciers, and mountain villages. The base camp serves as a temporary residence for climbers and support staff during the climbing season from April to May and September to November. It is a challenging but rewarding experience for those who seek adventure in the majestic Himalayas.

Everest Base Camp Trek begins with a short scenic domestic flight to Lukla. Afterward, we rely on our own feet for the rest of the journey. From the first day, you experience a blend of mountain views and the local Sherpa culture. Everest Base Camp Trek follows the Dudhkoshi River (upstream) and passes through Dudhkoshi Valley surrounded by Thamserku and Kusum Kanguru peaks. Pass through the colorful Namche Bazaar, Tengboche, and Gorakshep to reach the iconic Everest Base Camp. After that, finally ascend to Kalapatthar, the highest point on our adventure EBC trek. Witness the up-close views of Everest, Cho-Oyu, Pumori, etc. You spent nights most of the nights in teahouses or lodges. You also get enough time for an acclimatization rest day. You need not necessarily climb mountains for an adventure experience. Once you complete this trek, you will realize it.

Just view our gallery consisting of Everest photos and other scenes during the trail. Come and join us and make your dream come true to trek to Everest Base Camp.

Everest Base Camp Trek Attractions

  • Mt. Everest, Lhotse-Nuptse Wall, Ama Dablam, Kantega, etc. are the major attractions in this tranquil region.
  • Explore the Mountaineering Museum in Namche Bazaar.
  • Witness mountain life in Khumjung Valley.
  • Visit many monasteries, lamaseries, and temples during the trip, including the famous Tengboche Monastery.

Trek Route of Everest Base Camp

Lukla is the most popular trekking route for the Everest Base Camp. The scenic flight to Lukla is exciting and the trek duration is also short. The other two routes Jiri and Salleri are overland. It is suitable for trekkers with a limited budget and plenty of time, or who want to experience some more adventure. The trek routes take longer but allow enough time for trekkers to acclimatize and complete the trek at their own pace. As their preference, trekkers can choose the route.

Best Time for Everest Base Camp Trek

Weather and temperature are challenging factors during the Everest Base Camp besides elevation gain. The weather gets colder as you trek higher. Hence, the best time for the Everest Base Camp trek is during the Spring (Mar-May) and Autumn (Sep-Nov) seasons. During the day, the temperatures are warm and fall below 0℃ during the night. Also, witness the blooming seasonal flowers in Spring. The skies are clear and bright offering amazing views.

Monsoon (Jun-Aug) weather and temperature are warm during the day and cold at night but expect rainfall and not considered good for trekking. The weather and temperature are unpredictable during Winter (Dec-Feb). It is extremely cold and in higher regions temperatures can reach up to (-30) ℃. Most of the teahouses remain closed which creates difficulty for the trekkers during winter. Therefore, we suggest trekking during the Spring and Autumn seasons. Also, pack wisely according to seasons for a comfortable trekking experience.

Flight Details for Everest Base Camp Trek

The number of travelers for the Everest Base Camp Trek during peak seasons is extremely high. Hence, the air traffic in Kathmandu during April, May, October, and November is difficult to manage. As a result, the flight schedules are operated from Ramechhap which is a 4-hour drive from Kathmandu. From Ramechhap, trekkers take a flight to Lukla during these months.

Great Everest View Point Trek

Our Nepal and Bhutan trip in 2020 was halted due to the COVID-19 pandemic and resumed in 2023. Badri was constantly in touch with us and we decided to only continue with the Nepal trip.

I have visited Nepal 6 times previously over 20 years and have never tired of this amazing place and its fantastic people. I have done EBC, Langtang, Mardi Himal, Poon Hill, Pokhara and Chitwan. And of course Kathmandu many times. This time we decided on Everest View Point and Dingboche Monastery over 7 days.

Our guide Bish and Porter Rass were brilliant. The guys took care of my unwell travel partner and arranged my trip plans to continue while he rested.

I would recommend Outdoor Himalayan as a ground agent as they have in-depth knowledge and experience and are efficient and well-priced. 5 stars!!!

They even arranged a KTM city tour and golf for us at the end of the trip. Amazing.

An unforgettable trip!

It has been one of a lifetime experience. Our trek to EBC was well organized from start to finish and I highly recommended it! The views were amazing, beautiful weather and friendly people. Our guide Rupak Rimal went above and beyond, and I would be forever grateful for all that he has done for me during the trek. He is my favorite person in Nepal 🙂 very kind and gentle with a great sense of humor, trustworthy and very professional. He took care of me when I wasn’t feeling well, checking on me constantly to make sure I drink enough and even carried my backpack when I was weak… I can’t thank him enough.

Our group really loved him! If you are thinking of doing the trip, I would highly recommend having Rupak as your guide. You will feel safe and well taken care of! I am also very appreciative for the great support and hard work from our porters. Especially Milan, Not only were they diligent in carrying the heavy bags, but they were also helpful and attentive once we reached the lodges. Bringing us food and tea and making sure we have everything needed. It was truly an incredible experience! And I would not hesitate to trek with them again!

Everest Base Camp with Outdoor Himalayan treks

We got to know Outdoor Himalayan Treks by staying at Hotel Mums Home, where we got to talk to Rammani, who is the Manager for Outdoor Himalayan Treks.

He is very forecoming and connected, which means he gave us great tips on food locations, outdoor shops to rent gear and more.

Without a problem he arranged our full 20-day EBC trek with guide, shared jeep to Phaplu, flight back from Lukla and private Jeep from Rameshap to Kathmandu one day before we wanted to leave.
All this at a reasonable price, which you probably cant get anywhere when booking online.

We were so lucky to have Mr. Arjun Rai as our Guide, who made the whole experience SO much more memorable. I think he is among THE best guides out there. Not only his knowledge and connection to the mountains, buddism, culture of the sherpas and rais, but also his funny, forecoming and always-friendly attitude. It really was like trekking with a third friend.

Thanks to Outdoor Himalayan Treks and Arjun. You made this trip a 10/10 experience.
